Senior Director Vic Norris has been at Camp Tamakwa since the 60's and became one of camp's owners in 1980. Vic worked for several years under the tutelage of founding owner "Unca" Lou Handler, whose camping ideals and rich traditions he continues to carry on for new generations of Tamakwa campers.

Craig Perlmutter, Tamakwa's other owner, has been camp's full-time Camp Director since 2002. Between 1981 and 1993, Craig was a camper, CIT, counselor, Landsports Director, Assistant Boys Camp Director and Program Director. Craig's parents, Howard and Carol Perlmutter, whose affiliation with Tamakwa dates back to the 50's, are former owners and remain part of the year-round management team.

This brochure, soon to be updated and reprinted, still features former Directors Dave Bale and Jeff Wilson. Both Dave and Jeff remain dear friends of the Tamakwa family and Dave continues to maintain a family residence at camp.

We are committed to the ideals of providing a uniquely diversified program of camping adventure, and an opportunity for children to grow individually and collectively in a close knit group. Every camper of every age is exposed to every activity, where challenge and participation are valued over competition. The unique summer camp experience at Tamakwa encourages each camper to develop a stronger sense of independence, confidence and self-esteem. There is no end to realizing one's potential at Tamakwa.
